We've got the main attraction at Schumacher Chevy Buick of Boonton. And you've got a free first-row seat at one of the biggest events in the city. It's a big-time battle of light-duty pickup trucks. And you're the judge. Our money is on the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500. It's our reigning champion as one of the most popular pickup trucks in Boonton. But there's some stuff competition from two other competitors. We'll show you how the new Silverado 1500 matches up against the Ford F-150 and the Ram 1500. Three impressive trucks. One official winner. Let's view the tale of the tape.

First Round: Engines and Performance

Silverado 1500

Your Silverado 1500 isn't lacking power. Whether it's hauling or performance, you'll find it in one of the four available engines. There's a newly coined 2.7L TurboMax, a 5.3L V8, a 6.2L V8, and a 3.0L Duramax. Pound-for-pound, the 6.2L V8 packs the biggest punch. The fierce combination of horsepower and torque is at 420 and 460 lb.-ft., respectively. And if you need the most capable hauler, it lies in the 6.2L V8 or the Duramax engine. Max towing power reaches 13,300 lbs. with a payload capacity of 2,270 lbs.

Ford F-150

Can the Ford F-150 match the Silverado's power combination? The options include a 2.7L twin-turbo V6, a 3.5L turbocharged V6, a hybrid V6, and a 5.0L V8. The ones that pack the biggest punch are the 5.0L V8, the twin-turbo 3.5L, and the hybrid powertrain. But their strongest punch can't compete with the Silverado. With a maximum of 400 horsepower and towing and payload at 13,000 and 2,280 lbs., respectively, it'll have a tough time exchanging blows with this Chevy pickup.

Ram 1500

The Ram 1500 has a variety of engine/trim combinations in the ring. But is it enough? There's three V8 engines and two V6 options. If you're looking for the most trailering support, the 5.7L HEMI® V8 is the way to go. But it only offers 12,750 lbs. of max towing capacity. But the Ram 1500 has a haymaker ready to go. The Ram 1500 TRX sends out 702 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque with a 6.2L Supercharged HEMI®. Can the Silverado recover?

Second Round: Interior Design

Silverado 1500

Round two introduces several trim levels for the Silverado. Starting with the barebones, base-level Silverado 1500 Work Truck. It has a cloth/vinyl interior and rubber flooring for easy cleanup. However, the Silverado 1500 is primed to bring more to the ring with an impressive list of upgrades. Each trim level offers several convenient enhancements, like a 13.4-inch infotainment screen, leather upholstery with open-pore wood trim, and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.

Ford F-150

The Ford F-150 is against the ropes, but it's still in the fight with available fold-flat front seats and a versatile middle console. The middle console can transform into a mobile workstation, making room for a laptop or a few devices while parked. That's the major attraction for its interior design. If drivers in Parsippany or Dover, NJ, are looking for more, there's an available leather interior and soft touch features to bring a slight enhancement to the drive.

Ram 1500

The Ram 1500 enters the second round with a great reach advantage. It offers the best-in-class 45.2 inches of rear legroom so the crew can stretch out during the ride. And the class-exclusive in-floor storage is another convenience that separates itself from the competition. Upgrades include perforated leather seats and an active noise-cancellation system, just to name a few. But is that enough to give the Ram 1500 this round?

Round 3: Safety and Technology

Silverado 1500

The Silverado 1500 pulls no punches in the third round of action. The standard 7-inch diagonal touchscreen, Bluetooth audio streaming, and Apple/Android compatibility are incredible entry-level features. But you can maximize your comfort in Wayne, NJ, with a KO upgrade. The left-right combo includes a 13.4-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12.3-inch cluster instrument. You'll also find impressive safety features like hitch guidance, Super Cruise™ mode with Trailering assistance, and blind spot management.

Ford F-150

The Ford F-150 tries to take the final round with a standard 12-inch infotainment display and Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connections. But that's not all. The Ford F-150 throws everything it's got into this round, offering optional features like a Wi-Fi Hotspot, in-cabin navigation, and a premium Bang & Olufsen stereo. Standard safety features include automated emergency braking.

Ram 1500

The Ram 1500 enters the round with a less-impressive standard 8.4-inch infotainment screen with Apple and Android connections for its base-level models. And the upgrade to a 12-inch display is better but still not enough to keep up with the competition. Available safety features include blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control.
