Which Full-Sized SUV Can Compete with the 2023 Chevy Tahoe in Boonton, NJ

There's always competition for the top spot. And when the battle involves full-sized SUVs in Boonton, Chevy has a couple of heavy hitters to send to battle. Today, it's the new 2023 Chevy Tahoe. We'll see how it matches up against two of its top competitors, the Toyota Sequoia and Ford Expedition. Let's see which one has the edge over the competition.

Interior Design

Chevy Tahoe

Three rows are standard for the Chevy Tahoe. With over 36 inches of head- and legroom in all three rows, most adults will travel comfortably in any seat. The standard cloth upholstery is more comfortable than you'd imagine. But, as always, you can upgrade your seating material to perforated leather first- and second-row seats with the correct trim selection. Further trim-specific upgrades include temperature-controlled front seats with massage capability, all-weather cargo mats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Toyota Sequoia

The Toyota Sequoia enters the competition with an alluring panoramic moonroof. Heated front seats are standard, but ventilating features are available with an upgrade to the correct trim. Premium leather upholstery and front-row massage capability are also available with an upgraded package. And the Toyota Sequoia offers over 33 inches of legroom in each row with a 6-inch sliding and power-folding third row.

Ford Expedition

The Ford Expedition offers a three-seat, second-row bench as standard for every model. This setup allows room for eight inside your cabin. With an upgrade, you can exchange the second-row bench for captain's chairs, but you'll lose passenger space. The Expedition offers over 36 inches of legroom in every row. Trim-specific upgrades include leather seating with massage capability.

Performance

The Chevy Tahoe offers three trim-specific drivetrains. The standard 5.3L V8 will make way for 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. The 6.2L V8 tops out at 420 horsepower with 460 lb.-ft. of torque. And if you're looking for max towing capability, you can select the 3.0L diesel 6-cylinder engine for maximum towing output of 7,900 lbs. The Chevy Tahoe adds a trim level with an off-road focus. The Z71 is powered by the 5.3L V8 and includes a heavy-duty air filter, a 2-speed transfer case, front-rear tow hooks, a front skid plate, and adaptive suspension. The Z71 is also available as a package add-on for select trims.

Toyota Sequoia

The Toyota Sequoia employs the ingenious i-FORCE MAX technology in its powertrain. The standard 3.4L twin-turbo V6 is combined with an electric motor to produce a total of 437 horsepower and 583 lb.-ft. of torque. With the integrated trailer brake controller, the maximum towing capacity is improved from 8,980 lbs. to 9,520 lbs. The Sequoia also adds specific drive modes and improved towing technology to help manage the heavy loads in Wayne, NJ.

Ford Expedition

The Ford Expedition has a variety of engine options. There's a twin-turbocharged 4.5L V6 with 380 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. A higher-output version will increase those figures to 440 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque. And if you need to haul some weight, when properly equipped, the Expedition can pull up to 9,300 lbs. An available intelligent 4WD with terrain management can be added to the Ford Expedition with the correct trim selection.
