The Long-Awaited Chevy Electric Pickup is Ready for Arrival
So, we'll be honest. The Jetsons created high expectations for the future. Here we were, back in the 70s (well, some of us) watching a show that gave us everything we could only dream of having. Jet packs, flying cars, homes in the clouds, and sidewalks that moved like conveyor belts. Don't get us wrong, we have some amazing technology. But our cars aren't flying. In fact, they're still operating on fossil fuel. Well, some of them are. Our vehicles aren't flying just yet, but the all-electric Silverado EV has us headed in the right direction. We're not where we want to be just yet-but the future of automobiles looks bright, with Chevy leading the way.
We're Not Gassing You—This thing has POWE
Who doesn't love a big, burly V8 engine? You'll be hard-pressed to find a city like Parsippany or Dover, NJ that doesn't have a group of power-hungry, big-engine drivers. But what if we told you that you could have V8 power without spending hundreds each week on gas? Without the costly annual maintenance? With the Silverado EV, you can feel hundreds of horses powering your engine without dumping hundreds of dollars into your tank every week.
The Silverado EV is powered by two electric motors. So, there's no throaty eight-cylinder engine, but the power is still there. The base level WT trim will deliver up to 510 horsepower at full throttle. The RST trim increases your top end speed to 664 horsepower. And towing power won't be sacrificed with the switch to electric power.
The Silverado EV brings a max towing capacity of 10,000 pounds for the RST and 8,000 for the WT. But Chevy has plans for even more towing capacity with the Silverado EV. Chevy announced that there would be an additional model that can pull up to 20,000 pounds. Daily driver in Wayne, NJ, or big-time hauler? You decide.
Let's Charge it and Go
The Silverado EV is available with Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 charging hookups. The most convenient connection is the Level 1 charger, but it also takes the longest to recharge. If you use the residential 120-Volt outlet in your home, you'll need about 12 hours or more for a complete battery recharge.
The professionally installed Level 2 Charger will speed things up considerably. You can replenish your battery in as little as five hours. But the public Level 3 Charging ports can get you recharged in minutes. The Silverado EV comes with standard Level 3 charging connections. You'll have 100 miles of range in just ten minutes with the Level 3 public charging port. And you'll have an EPA-estimated 400-mile driving range when fully charged.
Key Features for the 2024 Silverado EV
What makes the all-new Silverado EV stand out? Well, besides the fact that it's Chevy's first fully-electric pickup truck. You might be surprised at what this vehicle brings to the table. If you're ready to be impressed, read along.
Big-Time Power
The Silverado EV will have no less than 510 horsepower and 615 lb.-ft. of torque. Higher trim levels, like the RST, will allow up to 664 horsepower and 780 lb.-ft. of torque.
Improved Driving Range
GM expects an EPA-estimated 400-mile driving range when fully charged. That's with a fully charged battery powering you along.
Impressive Technology
The RST model features a massive 17-inch diagonal infotainment screen with an 11-inch customizable display. There's also an available 14-inch Head-Up display and Super Cruiseâ„¢ with trailering assistance.
Good On-Road or Off-Road
The Silverado EV RST adds four-wheel drive, Automatic Adaptive Air Suspension, and a Multi-Flex Mid-gate with an optional Multi-Flex tailgate. This truck is perfect for pre-game fun at the stadium or off-road enjoyment.
Towing is No Problem
The Silverado EV adds power to your daily commute with up to 10,000 lbs. of towing strength. Payload capacity increases to 1,300 lbs.
ÂGive Power to Your Electric Tools
The onboard 10.2kW power hookups with optional equipment are available on the WT and RST. Whether you need to power your grill at the campsite or recharge your electric drill, you've got more than enough to get it done with the Silverado EV.
Interior Design
The Chevy Silverado EV is rumored to feature a fixed glass roof and two-tone leather upholstery available in select trims. And the spacious cabin design adds over 44 inches of legroom and over 65 inches of shoulder room in both rows. Whether it's a road trip in Montville or a long commute out of Boonton, you'll have more than enough space to stretch out and enjoy the ride.
The column-mounted middle compartment includes a large storage bin between the dashboard and the middle armrest. The dashboard builds upon an almost fully digital design with a standard 11-inch infotainment touchscreen and an 8-inch digital gauge display. Other standard features rumored for inclusion are automatic climate control, Apple/Android connections, in-dash navigation, and Wi-Fi streaming. Higher-trim upgrades include a 17-inch infotainment screen and an 11-inch cluster instrument.
Safety Features
The Chevy Silverado EV will provide a wall of safety and alerts for you and your passengers. Standard features will include automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection warning. Available upgrades include lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and the popular Super Cruise system.
