While driving is a pretty straightforward process most of the time, there are occasions where a wrinkle is thrown into the equation. One of those is when you discover that you have a flat tire. If you are already stopped, then this might not be a big deal. However, when you are driving there are some safety precautions you need to take.

Remember not to panic when you get a flat tire. Instead, turn your indicator on and get safely off the road. If you can pull into a business that has plenty of space, that will give you the room you need to replace the flat tire.

Once you have secured the vehicle and made sure that the emergency brake is switched on, get out and put tire wedges in place. You can use a large brick or rock for this purpose as well. It will help keep the good tires from rolling on top of you.
